Sun Microsystems Alumni Association (SMAA) FAQs
Mail FAQs
Q. How can I manage where my
e-mail gets delivered?
A. Email
delivery from Sun Alumni is managed through your Yahoo account.
Login to Yahoo,
and select MyAccount. You must edit your Membership information,
and in your email preferences, set your preferred email address,
and set that as your primary delivery address. Then click on
the Finished button to save your changes.
Q. How can I manage my e-mail
volume from SMAA?
A.
There are three good ways to reduce the amount of email that you
can receive from SMAA:
1. Direct all SMAA emails to a special folder:
Some email systems or clients allow you to create separate folders within your
inbox. Create a SMAA folder, then create an email filter directs any emails
with the words "[sun alumni]" in the subject line into that folder.
2. Get only one SMAA email per day:
You can choose "Daily Digest" on your YahooGroups email preferences, which
will send you a single email containing all of the message posts for the day.
Login to Yahoo, and or to the SMAA
home page on Yahoo Groups. Select the "Edit Membership" link on the top
of the page. Then choose "Daily Digest" in the "Message Delivery" section.
Make sure that you save your changes before you quit.
3. Stop all SMAA emails and view jobs via
the group home page:
Login to Yahoo, and go to the SMAA
home page on Yahoo Groups. Select the "Edit Membership" link on the top
of the page. Then select "Message Delivery" and choose "Special Notices." Be
sure to choose "Special Notices" since we may send out important messages from
the moderators. Then make sure that you save your changes before you quit.
Database FAQs
Q. Are my entries in the database
private?
A. Yes,
because the information on the Yahoo site is password protected
by the SMAA yahoo group.
For further FAQs and information on the
SMAA database, see the Sun
Alumni Group on Yahoo.
LinkedIn FAQ
Q. How do I join the LinkedIn
SMAA subgroup?
A. Once
you've joined SMAA, go to https://www.linkedin.com/e/gis/19/0D76BC779674/
Q. I applied to join the SMAA LinkedIn group, but I haven't
been approved yet. Why is it taking so long?
A. Membership approval is not automatic. One of the members
of the SMAA Board approves applicants, based on their
membership to SMAA. This is done a few times a week. If you're
eligible, you'll be approved soon. Thank you for your patience.
Miscellaneous FAQs
Q. How can we get additional
links or FAQs added to the SMAA website?
A. Please
send any additional questions, FAQs or recommended links to
the directors of SMAA. The directors reserve the right to determine
which links and FAQs are added to the website.
